LVS Hassocks student

Sienna-Grace

Now in her third year at LVS Hassocks, Sienna-Grace says she enjoys coming to school each day to see her friends. PE and food tech are among her favourite subjects.

Even though she is only in Year 9, Sienna-Grace has already begun her GCSE art studies and is particularly enjoying the lino work.

Outside of school she takes part in a gymnastics club, something the school helps to facilitate by not overloading the students with additional work to complete at home, something it acknowledges can cause unnecessary stress and anxiety for both parents/carers and children at home.

“Home time is when the children should be able to relax and have time to enjoy activities outside of school,” says Takeisha Achene James, who teaches Sienna-Grace personal studies, PE and performing arts.

And for those moments when a student feels anxious or upset and wants someone other than their teacher to talk too, there is the school nurse onsite. “If you’re feeling down, you can go and talk to her – she is lovely.”
