Curriculum

Our students access a structured environment and high levels of targeted intervention and differentiation throughout the school dat.  Although they work at broadly age related levels of attainment, we operate a ‘stage not age’ approach to learning and, with a drive towards attainment, anticipate that our students will gain a range of GCSEs and vocational qualifications at the end of Key Stages 4 and 5.  For further information on the qualifications we currently offer, please see the Learning tab.

With small class sizes, we average 8 students to a class, and a teacher and LSA in every class, we provide both academic and personal learning opportunities.  Our integrated approach with therapists supporting teaching staff to ensure that classrooms are autism friendly and the language requirements of the curriculum are differentiated for different student cohorts ensures that students enjoy learning and gain self-confidence and self-esteem.  We operate a reward scheme for those students who require support to engage in their learning, and sensory and movement breaks are woven into the school day.
