Our team of SEN qualified teachers at LVS Hassocks have an excellent understanding of the nature of autism and its impact on effective learning.
Senior Leadership Team
The school is under the leadership of Principal, Jen Weeks and supported by Kayley Willcocks, Deputy Head, Cecily English, Vice Principal and Sarah Sherwood, Director of SEN.

Jen Weeks
Principal
A history graduate from Kent University and a PGCE awarded from York University, Jen started her career in an inner city school before becoming the Teaching and Learning Consultant for the National Secondary Strategy (West Sussex).
After over a decade in senior leadership positions in large secondary schools, overseeing areas such as SEN, safeguarding, transitions and partnership working, Jen joined LVS Hassocks as Deputy Head in April 2017, with responsibility for safeguarding, curriculum and assessment. Jen was appointed Head of School in 2019 and promoted to school Principal in 2021.
Jen holds the Level 7 Specialist Assessors qualification for Access Arrangements from Chester University and a PG Cert SEN (NASENCO) from Bath Spa University and Masters in Education from Brighton University.

Kayley Willcocks
Deputy Head
After studying at Brighton University, Kayley began working at LVS Hassocks in 2014 and became Deputy Head in 2019. Kayley is the designated safeguarding lead and currently oversees the school safeguarding and therapy teams.
Kayley manages the EHCP annual review process at LVS Hassocks and believes that student wellbeing should always remain at the centre of decision making. Kayley works in the admissions team, in addition to developing links with numerous local provisions to support students transitioning into further education or training.

Cecily English
Vice Principal
Cecily began teaching Music in 2012 after studying at Southampton University. The Masters in Education that Cecily completed in 2017 focused on how to improve teaching in small group work. Having enjoyed her first teaching role at a mainstream comprehensive secondary, her role progressed to Head of Department.
Cecily joined LVS Hassocks in the summer of 2020 with a desire to teach in SEN and since June 2021 she has been enjoying her role of Vice Principal, leading on Teaching & Learning.

Sarah Sherwood
Director of Special Educational Needs
Sarah works at both LVS Oxford and LVS Hassocks, where, with the Leadership Teams, she ensures that the schools are meeting the many and diverse needs of our pupils.
Our vision of academic achievement, employability and independent living necessitates a thorough assessment for new pupils, ensuring that the transition into LVS Hassocks is as stress free for the individual as possible, and the necessary support is available from day one.
We congratulate Sarah on achieving her Doctorate in Education at the start of 2022, and give thanks to Sarah for her dedication to her role in our schools.
