Pupils from LVS Hassocks have been enjoying work experience at a nearby Fuller’s bar and restaurant, The Thomas A Becket in Worthing.
Under the expert guidance of the pub’s General Manager, Stacey Croft, the students have been able to enjoy the hands-on experience of working in hospitality.
Monique Samra, Fuller’s People Experience Manager, said: “We believe that work experience gives people the opportunity to develop the skills that are needed in the workplace, as well as being able to make new friendships and gain confidence, which will show them that they can have a role and be part of a team.
“This industry is crying out for good and loyal staff members. Having someone on your team who is excited to take on various roles, according to their experience and ability, is hugely helpful.” – Stacey Croft, General Manager at The Thomas A Becket
“At Fuller’s we believe in welcoming people with different skillsets and strengths, because it creates really productive and high performing teams. It’s something that we are passionate about and we are actively working to attract more neurodiverse people into the business.”
Monique added that not only do the students gain valuable experience, but Fuller’s teams and leaders learn much from having a diverse team, one that harnesses an individual’s strengths in various ways.
“We believe it is vital to create sustainable employment for those who face barriers to work.
“Fuller’s is proud to partner with the LVS and be able to support students by offering them work experience, which provides them with new skills and life experiences to help them be successful in their first jobs. This partnership is important to us, because it also allows Fuller’s to play our part in creating equitable working environments.”
