Students and staff at LVS Hassocks, the multi-award-winning specialist school for young people with autism, are celebrating another year of success with improved GCSE results. The school is incredibly proud of its students’ achievements and the dedication of its teaching team, considering the challenges that autistic children face with exams. Many face high levels of anxiety. Simply taking part in formal examinations is a significant achievement for many, making this year’s exceptional results even more impressive.
This year’s highlights include:
English Language GCSE: 100% pass rate (grades 1–9), with 39% achieving grade 4 or above, including two grade 5s.
Maths GCSE: 90% pass rate, with 52% securing grade 4 or higher, including one grade 7 and one grade 6.
Fine Art GCSE: 100% pass rate, with 50% achieving grade 4 or higher, including two grade 5s and one grade 6.
These results reflect a continuation of the school’s rising standards and build on the successes of previous years. For many autistic students, the challenges of formal assessments can be significant due to heightened anxiety, making these accomplishments especially meaningful.
Principal Rachel Borland praised the school community, saying:
“Once again, our students have demonstrated remarkable resilience, determination, and ambition. These results show not only their academic progress but also their personal growth in overcoming challenges. I am immensely proud of both our students and staff, whose commitment and unwavering support have made this possible. At LVS Hassocks, we are determined to build on this momentum and ensure our young people continue to thrive as they move on to the next stage of their education and future pathways.”
The school looks forward to continuing its progress and supporting students in unlocking their full potential.
