Teachers

We are seeking experienced Teachers to join LVS Hassocks at an exciting time in its journey to becoming an outstanding provider for young people on the autism spectrum.   The successful candidates will be qualified to degree level and have a teaching qualification enabling them to teach up to A Level.  Experience of teaching and supporting students with special educational needs, particularly those who have a diagnosis of autism and associated disorders, is also necessary.  Class sizes are typically no larger than eight students and each class has a dedicated Learning Support Assistant.  The role demands the application of specialised teaching approaches, systematic planning and record keeping and the management and deployment of support staff as well as good ICT skills.

Head of Boarding

LVS Hassocks wishes to appoint a Head of Boarding whose role is to support the Head of School in the school’s management and strategic planning and in the development and maintenance of our innovative approaches to the education of children with a diagnosis on the autism spectrum. 

The Head of Boarding will have responsibility for the oversight and strategic development of the Boarding curriculum and day to day management and operation of the department.  This involves the line management of Heads of Houses, the development, monitoring and evaluation of curriculum delivery and of assessment, planning and record keeping systems, to ensure the achievement and progress of all learners in the boarding provision. 

The post holder will be a member of the senior leadership team and will therefore have some additional whole school responsibilities.

Learning Support Assistants

36 hours per week, term-time only - 40 weeks per year

Learning Support Assistants have a varied role within the classroom and school, including: 

  • assisting the Teacher in lessons
  • working with individuals or groups of students
  • organising and running activities
  • producing displays and resources 

The SEN Learning Support Assistants should be a great team player and an excellent communicator as some of our students may display challenging behaviour and need support on a one-to-one basis.

These Learning Support Assistant and Night Support Worker Jobs require that candidates must display some knowledge of special educational needs, in particular children with autistic spectrum conditions. Level 3 Diploma in Specialist support in Teaching and Learnng in schools or equivalent is desirable.

Cleaner - full time

We are looking for a cleaner to join our housekeeping team at our school in Sayers Common. Previous experience is desirable but not essential as we provide full training.  The successful applicant will help to provide and maintain the high standard of housekeeping services within all areas of the school and residential setting.  We are looking for a team player who is trustworthy, caring and conscientious.

This is a full time role (40 hours per week) Monday to Friday, 52 weeks per year.

We offer an excellent rate of pay and benefits including pension, lunch and uniform.
