Making Music

Students in the secondary one group have really been expressing themselves in the musical workshops led by local musician David Frampton. Learning about the different instruments, the sounds they make and the rhythms they can produce has really caught the imagination of some.

Hazel Groves, Curriculum Leader said: “Through these sessions we are able to develop the students’ communication and listening skills in a fun and exciting manner."

"Some of them have a real creative talent and enjoy experimenting; they all cope really well with the level of noise and have a great time at these sessions.  Sometimes once they get going it’s hard to stop them!”

Such is the success of the programme that student Andrew Knowles, 12, has shown a flair for the keyboard and has recently started one-to-one lessons.

Bookmark this feature as the sessions are being recorded and rehearsals for ‘Jingle Bells’ are underway, and we will share their performance with you on the web later in December.
