Family and guests were treated to a colourful circus performance when the students of LVS Hassocks proudly hosted a ‘Sharing Day’ on Friday 16 July. The school opened it’s doors to show the hard work the student’s have been doing this term which included building and painting the circus set and practicing a number of short performances. Examples of learning across the curriculum were on display, including students work in ICT, communication, anxiety management and independent living skills. Students in the Vocational Department practised their baking skills which were tried and tested at the cake stall, with a number of items selling out! Headteacher Sarah Sherwood explains “The Sharing Day posed many challenges for the students as they needed to rehearse lines, perform in front of a large audience and meet new people. “The fact that they successfully carried out the tasks at hand just proves how much they have developed during their time here. Our staff are so proud to see the improvement in student confidence and self-esteem, evident for all to see on the day.”
