At LVS Hassocks, students are encouraged to plan their leisure time with staff. There are regular, games, quiz and film nights. Themed events are a particular favourite, but equally students are allowed personal space just to play their favourite computer games or read a book.
Engaging in outside activities can often unsettle a young person with an autistic spectum disorder. However many of our students enjoy activities outside of the school such as judo, swimming and Scouts. As well as outings to the shops and cinema, one of the regular trips is to the local Youth Club, where our young residents benefit from social interaction with their peers and have the chance to develop new friendships.
Frequent trips to nearby Brighton and other local attractions such as Arundel Castle ensure our students gain valuable life experiences out of the classroom.
'Citizenship, media studies and visits into the local area give students avaluable insight into a wider community and into what being a responsible citizen entails.'
