We recognise that students with communication, socialisation and imagination difficulties all have different skills and attributes.
Students learn a range of relevant vocational skills in a vibrant and stimulating environment. Supported by their teachers, the ongoing assessment can lead to nationally recognised qualifications. Students work towards level 1 or 2 qualifications in the following subjects:
Students work within the school grounds and our outdoor classroom/polytunnel.
Some of the skills they learn and are assessed on include: establishing and maintain plants, harvesting and preparing crops, understanding safe working practices, what tools to use and how to look after them.
The large and well equipped catering kitchen and school dining hall offer a fantastic environment to learn the skills needed for the catering and hospitality industry. Students learn about food safety and preparation, basic cooking techniques, special diets and customer care.
Recently students have been attending Plumton College one day a week to study vocational qualifications.
Read more about the students studying a motor vehicle module. Another group are studying animal care.
All students complete a Literacy and Numeracy qualification alongside their NVQ.
