“Research shows that a very small percentage of young people with ASD, including Asperger’s Syndrome are in sustained full-time employment. We are passionate about changing that outcome for our students.”
Sarah Sherwood Head Teacher
Students at LVS Hassocks enjoy the safe and familiar surroundings of the school. We aim to provide them with a ‘tool box for life’ – a variety of skills and coping mechanisms that they can take with them in to the next stage of their life, whether it be further education or employment. Our methods give learners the essential skills needed to be confident in the workplace, plus the knowledge and practical experiences needed to lead fulfilling adult lives.
Work experience opportunities help students decided on what they do next. Tonie knows she want to work with children when she leaves Hassocks in 2 years time..
Students in the post 16 group work with their teacher and parents to develop a 'moving on plan' - for some this may be suport in applying for a college course or applying for job and training schemes. Help and guidance is given to ensure the transition is as smooth as possible.
