Overcoming difficulties so learning makes sense

At LVS Hassocks, the teaching and learning approach helps young people to make sense of their experiences, connecting their learning so they can overcome the difficulties associated with autism, Asperger's and dyslexia, and help them develop strategies for success in all areas of their life.

There are five interrelated stages of the approach we use, called PLANS:

         P  People Plans 
           - address social communication and interaction, and Speech &
             Language therapy interventions
         L  Learning Plans 
           - address generalising learning across environments, rules and
             responsibilities, working to some else’s agenda
         A  Action Plans 
           - include personal support plans, anxiety reduction plans and
             Occupational Therapy intervention                  
         N  Next Steps

           - include learning objectives, IEP targets and transitions
         S  Self Belief 
           - improving self esteem
