Our Students, Our School and Our Team

Happy students

Students diagnosed with learning difficulties such as Asperger's, autism and related conditions thrive at LVS Hassocks where our structured environment and fresh approach develops their independence and confidence, whilst equipping them with the skills needed for employment and dealing with the complexities of day to day life.

Following a 2 year refurbishment programme by the Licensed Trade Charity owners of Hassocks, the residential provision has been considered by Ofsted as an outstanding facility.  Supported by excellent pastoral care, that encourages independence, wellbeing and healthy lifestyles, students are able to carry on learning life-skills outside of the classroom in a safe and secure environment.

Lead by Sarah Sherwood, Head Teacher, the experienced team of teaching and support staff at LVS Hassocks are passionate about providing a positive and nurturing learning environment for young people with a diagnosis of autism or Asperger’s Syndrome and other associated needs such as dyslexia.  With on-site speech, language and occupational therapists, dedicated chefs and practical instructors delivering the vocational skills, the focus is on developing students as individuals, recognising their strengths and utilising the skills and resources available within our specialist school.

Our Aims

The aim of the school is to enable learners to realise their full potential and become independent individuals who are:

  • successful learners in charge of their learning
  • confident individuals in control of their feelings
  • responsible citizens in control of their actions
